Describe

Write a complete sentence describing what was asked — usually a transformation needs every component.

Definition

In transformation questions, "describe fully" means you must give every required component: type (translation, reflection, rotation, enlargement), plus the necessary parameters (vector for translation; mirror line for reflection; centre, angle and direction for rotation; centre and scale factor for enlargement).

Example

Describe the transformation. Answer: "A rotation of 90° clockwise about the origin." All three components: 90°, clockwise, about origin.

Common confusion

Missing one component (e.g. forgetting "clockwise") loses a mark.

Used in these topics
